Hello Beautiful Humans I am so happy to be back on the blog. Not gonna lie I had a little bit of a blogging slump for a second there, but now we are back! I have been waiting to write this blog post for a little over a month and yes I know that Halloween is over, that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it. In this blog I’m gonna tell you everything my mom and I did as well as give you some tips and facts about the party!
So my mom and I bought tickets to Mickeys Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. I had heard great things and wanted to definitely experience it now that I live in a state that has a Disney Park literally 50 minutes away. So we bought our tickets back in September and we paid about $200 each. I know a little pricey but so worth it. For someone that isn’t a big fan of Halloween I was awfully excited.
We booked our party for October 27th, which is when the tickets are most expensive of course. We are annual passholders though so we saved $10! Of course the earlier in the season you go the cheaper they are. The party goes from August 9th to October 31st. It goes from 7pm to 12am. We wanted to go close to Halloween. The night we went actually sold out, but surprisingly it wasn’t very crowded at all you wouldn’t think it was sold out. When you purchase the ticket you are allowed entry into the park at 4pm. (Magic Kingdom closes at 6 on party days) My mom and I got to the park at about 5:15 and we waited for the Ferry boat for about 15 minutes. When you go to the party they only let you take the Ferry Boat to get into the park.
Once we finally got into the park they send you into an event entrance, don’t worry their was literally no line. When we got into the park they immediately gave us a wristband so they know we were allowed in the park after 6pm. When we walked in they have a big trolley with a banner that says “Mickeys Not-So- Scary Party This Way” with a giant arrow so it’s hard to miss. It takes you in a back way to Mainstreet to keep the crowds divided which is really nice. So you follow the arrow and they have big blowups and a DJ and bubbles floating around it’s pretty cool. This is where we got our Trick or Treat bag and they give you a full size candy which is really fun. They also had Cruella De Vil entertaining people as they walk in the park.
My mom and I got there at the perfect time because we were able to eat before the party actually started. However, you can not get exclusive party food or treats until 7 when the party actually starts. (One of the perks of the party is the exclusive snacks and merch!) So after we ate we wanted to go on a ride that didn’t have a Halloween overlay before the party just to kill time. So we went on Pirates of the Caribbean. They check wristbands so you can’t go on it after 6 unless you have a wristband. The wait time was literally nothing and we walked right on.
After that it was about 6:30 and we kept seeing all these popcorn buckets. On Instagram that morning I saw a stitch popcorn bucket and it was only sold in animal kingdom and I was so sad. But then I saw this lady carrying one so I asked her where she got it, and when I tell you I ran so fast. We got the popcorn bucket at the beginning of the night because I didn’t want them to run out. (they never did) so don’t be fooled we were at a sold out party and they never ran out. Apparently, the Stitch was a party exclusive that night as well as the Mickey dressed as a pumpkin. My mom got that one. So we really lucked out with the cutest popcorn buckets ever.
After we got our popcorn we decided to hit up Space Mountain. I was really excited because they put a Halloween overlay on it and it’s supposed to be super fun. We got there at 6:58 and their was literally no line again it was a straight walk on. By the time we got on the ride it was 7 and they did the Halloween overlay. Which to be honest I feel like they change it at 6 as soon as party people start to get in line. So we got on the ride and we held our popcorn buckets during it and it is literally pitch black. No stars or anything and they have this creepy growling sound and swooshes that go by you, it is insane but it was so fun.
Next we did some Trick or Treating, not on purpose but we walked by and saw the inflatable so we figured “why not?” Disney is the only place you can trick or treat as an adult and not be judged. But keep in mind, the pop ups are just the start there is like a whole line you have to walk through but it goes by super fast. All the trick or treating spots are marked with a blow up so you just follow that to get your candy.
We did do some shopping after that. The party has exclusive merch and of course we had to check it out. We went to the Star Traders store because it is way less crowded than the Emporium. We didn’t have to wait in line or move around people we basically had the whole store to ourselves. Since I already got my popcorn bucket and I wanted to get something that wasn’t a shirt I got the exclusive Hocus Pocus Pin. My mom got the mug which I almost got too. They have something for everyone!
A few rides later we went and got some Halloween Dole Whip. It was ok I would recommend the regular Dole Whip. We then went to Haunted Mansion. I was most excited for this ride because just the vibes of the night and the ride itself was giving Halloween. This was the longest line we waited in. I feel like none of the wait times were accurate. They said 45 minutes and it was like 10. That goes for all rides so you can’t listen to them. When we got towards the ride they had these characters that looked like actual ghost hanging out in the graveyard talking to the people in line, it was so cute. That was the Halloween overlay as well as having fog and different colored lights in line which added to the spooky vibes. After that we rode space mountain again and we got our spot for the shows.
I highly recommend watching all the shows at the end of the night because that gives you the rest of the party to do whatever like eat and shop and ride rides. Plus it’s a way to relax because it is late at night and you start to get tired. The first show we watched was Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Firework Show with the giant Jack Skellington puppet which was super cool.
Then we waited a little bit and watched the Boo to You Parade. I haven’t seen a Disney Parade in so long and forgot how amazing they are. I love that they had all the villains and haunted mansion people. My favorite float had to be the haunted mansion one! I think it’s so cool how they make the people look like ghosts. For these two shows we stood by the planter to the side of the castle in front of where the popcorn buckets were being sold and it was such a great spot for both shows.
After that we finished off the night with the Hocus Pocus Spelltacular and can I just say…the oogey boogey man understood the assignment. That guy was killing it I couldn’t help but laugh. This is such a cute show featuring the Sanderson Sisters it was only 20 minutes and very enjoyable. Overall it was such a fun experience and I would definitely go back. Disney made Halloween so magical especially for someone that hates Halloween like me hehe.
Important things to know
- With the ticket you can enter the park at 4. You don’t have to get there at 4 unless you want too. I have an annual pass so I wanted to avoid the crowds.
- Buy your ticket in advance to avoid price increases and the possibility of them selling out.
- Eat before the party starts so you can enjoy all the snacks and fun things the party has planned.
- Do all rides at the beginning of the night and do shows towards the end. The later shows are less crowded and there’s less children.
- Fireworks are always crowded so get to your spot about 30min prior.
- Go trick or treating, it is not lame and you will not be judged I promise.
- Dress up! It doesn’t have to be a full costume but just something festive like some ears or a Halloween shirt. Just keep in mind dress code:)
- Buy the Exclusive Merch. Just get one thing as a momento from the party.
- Don’t forget to relax and have fun it’s ok if you don’t do everything.
- Wait times displayed aren’t the accurate wait times they are usually way less than what it says.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. Now it’s time for Christmas! Talk to you next time Beautiful Humans.
